8 Very Big Promises

Every company has mission statements. You’ve seen them; they’re long, wordy, and incredibly self-serving of that company’s long term vision and purpose. Quite frankly, they are of little use to you as a customer. So, Instead of the standard dry Mission Statement, we have come up with something you can really use - Our 8 Very Big Promises.

1.    We PROMISE to give you a step-by-step and, easy-to-understand Remodeling Assessment. This Assessment looks at your overall needs and responsibilities, and shows you all the options available to remodel your home. These options will be based solely on your unique situation, and nothing else.

2.    We PROMISE not to waste your time, pressure you, or make you feel uncomfortable by trying to push you any products. That’s the last thing we want to do. My job is to make your life simple, and to eliminate any chaos, confusion and anxiety you may be having over remodeling your home.

3.    We PROMISE you will be treated professionally, and with respect and courtesy.

4.    We PROMISE we’ll speak to you in plain and simple English! Not some sort of mumbo-jumbo. Not understanding what’s going on is what gets lots of homeowners in trouble in the first place. I want you to understand everything.

5.    It goes without saying that we PROMISE to respect your privacy and personal space.

6.    When it comes time to sign a contract, we will review and go over each phase of the project individually, and explain their purpose and how each step of the project may impact you, one by one. Again, we’ll do this in plain and simple English, not using any kind of “buzzwords” or terms you may not be familiar with.

7.    Weekly status reports. If you’re like most people, you’d probably like to be updated on what’s going on with your home remodeling project on a regular basis. So to make sure you’re always aware of what’s going on, we will meet with you, or call, e-mail or fax you once a week with a Weekly Remodeling Status Report that constantly brings you up -to-date on your remodeling project. This report identifies three specific things:

  • Good News. Remodeling your home is a multi-step process, and each time your project goes through another step we’ll let you know. This way if you need to be around at a certain time to review something, or if you have any questions about what’s going on, everything can be done in a timely manner.
  • Any Delays. In this part of your weekly status report you’ll find out if something’s been delayed, and why. We’ll also let you know if you need any new documents or information, so we can keep things moving forward
  • Potential things to be aware of. Nothing’s perfect, and once in a while glitches occur. The good news is, when you’re informed early, these glitches don’t snowball and turn into anything more, and we can handle them immediately.

8.    And lastly, when we let you know your project costs, we stick firm to it. That's a PROMISE!  We’re not going to send you on some sort of wild goose chase, only to wind up misleading or disappointing you by saying this or that is not included in the contract price. You will understand every step of the way; change orders are written up at the point of discovery and agreed upon before change order is started.  You have my word on this.

See, maybe I’m “old school,” but when I was growing up, a handshake meant a lot more to people than any kind of legal document some lawyer could draw up. And call me silly, but I miss those days when your word was your bond. So let’s just say these 8 promises are my extended “handshake,” or my own personal guarantee, to you.
